Kaudulla national park is 16,494-acre or 6.656 hectares. The Kaudulla ancient lake surrounded by grassland and scrubby forest forms the center piece of the park providing the elephants and other wildlife with the water and lush vegetation what they need.

Kaudulla located in a elephant corridor between Somawathie Chaitya national park and Minneriya national park. It is one of best national parks to spot Elephants in Sri Lanka the home for about 200+ elephants, monkeys, crocodiles and even a handful of leopards and home to 23 mammal species, 160 species of birds, including hundreds of pelicans that gather at the lake.
